I was just thinking about Wascomats (reading a post about a leaky soap dish) and thought I'd pass on some potentially valuable info to any newbie that bought a mat with Wascomats that are 8 or more years older (thereabouts).
The tops are usually opened with keys. The key hole nearest the soap dish often gets badly clogged with soap scum, making it difficult to open and rusting out the lock. Inititally, pour limeaway into the lock hole until it dissolves the scum. Open the lock and remove the lid. Replace that keyed lock with an Allan keyed lock (available from your parts supplier). No more soap scum in the keyhole.
