Is there a web site that gives detailed specifications about different washing machines? Specifically, I'm trying to determine the water usage and number of cycles for the following:
Wascomat - W185
Wascomat - W125
Wascomat - WE16
Speed Queen - SWT521
I have checked the Wascomat site but there spec sheets do not show amount of water used.
Thanks

There is a web site that gives detailed specifications about different washing machines in terms of water usage per cycle - believe it or not it is the IRS. If you search for laundromat on their main web page you will find the specifics.
I cannot answer for all machines, but the hard mount wasco Gen5 machines W185 and W125 use roughly 2 gallons per pound capacity. Thus, a 185 which is a 50 pound machine uses about 100 gallons over the course of 5 cycles. If you eliminate a cycle, you will drop water usage by 1/5th. You could cut out the prewash or the first rinse if you wanted to - I won' t tell you that you should or should not - that is up to you. You can also play with the level switch and either raise or lower water usage slightly.

Actually based on that IRS document, I have created an Excel spreadsheet to do the Income Analysis. You just punch in the Gallons of water used from the water bill and it will give you approximate revenue. My next project develop a program in Visual Basic.
I also have that IRS document in pdf format. If you want it let me know your e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you.

Remember that the age of the equipment and the settings available on certain brands can vary the water use. I prepared a water use by brand and by age setup sheet......
Current machines use less water, but most of the savings come from putting less water into the tubs, and because most of the manufacturers no longer use two washes and three rinses as the factory standard program. Most manufacturers have also removed the sump or button trap that was previously used on many models. This saves additional water on each cycle.
