I want to place a "Coming Soon" sign in my window during construction.

The question is, How soon is too soon?

I am a few months from opening, but
I'd like to generate some buzz. However, I know of a mat that has had a sign on an empty lot for a year and they haven't started the bldg yet. It is a local joke!!

You may want to consider the fact that you are also warning the competition of your arrival. They may institute discounts or specials prior to your opening to try to hold on to "their" customers. If the competition already knows, a month should be enough.

(If it's going to take you more than 3 months to open, your probably using the guys that build my last store.....9 months... my wife was pregnant at the time, and we wondered who would be finished first.....she was !!

I hope you also have all of the proper local permitting from the building dept. A few years back a competitior of mine went through a complete renovation without permits and was caught only after he placed huge banners announcing his remodel-It wasn't me who called.

It's a completely new bldg and all the permits are done. The local comp knows a mat is coming, they may not know what the exact name is yet.

I chose the distributor and the equipment was seconday to me.

Interesting approach, given you are done with the distributor once the store is done but will live with the equipment for many years. I know your story, so no problem here, but most people should choose the equipment first not the distributor.

I tell my wife this everytime she does not want to buy a car cause the salesman is a jerk. Once you have the car you never have to see him again.

Since he is dealing with a distributor that has no access to Wascomat machines that would be very interesting.

Hmm,, I kinda agree Kirby, but I also would never deal with a distrib I did not trust. You will need him for at least 5 years for warranty parts and stuff. I am not sure I would buy equipment my distributor was not the distributor for, if that is the case here. Interesting situation.
My Dexter dealer is great. I have no trouble with parts, warranty, anything. Stuff that is slightly out of warranty gets handled. And I am in the loop about whats going on, and they sure won't build a store anywhere near existing customers.

I have no problems with my distrib, but I don't need them for warranty parts- I can get them directly from Wasco if I want, my machines are all registered with Wasco so that is no problem.

Wasco will do direct parts warranty?
I always thought everything had to go thru a dealer.
I have had some troubles with IPSO boards, they will not warranty direct, they make it go thru the dealer. Never thought of calling Dexter, I call my local dealer.
