I have a five year old soda machine which is making occasional grinding sounds and when it is making these sounds, I find small pieces of crushed ice coming down the chute. What causes this, and how can I solve the problem ? Thanks
Sounds like the temperature is set too low and your humidity level is high in your mat.

how long has it been since you vacuumed the lint and dust out of the refridgeration coils?

Forgot all about that one. Low airflow will induce icing.

I use to have a vending company. This is usually a problem caused by the drain hole getting clogged. Water will collect inside the refrigerated portion of the vending machine (under the delivery chute). Once the water builds up to the refrigeration coils it freezes. Once it accumulates it hits the circulation fan (the grinding sound). Check the drain and see if it is clogged. Should fix the problem. Let us know....

Thanks to Centex, I have found the solution. It was the clogged drainage as he said. Once I cleared out the clogged drainage, and got rid of the accumulated cold water, no more ice. I also took a shop vac and vauccumed the fins just for good measure.
