is this ok my water circulating centrifigal pump is HOT when I touch it? B/G made one, attached between water heater and water tank/water in-line. it painted "RED" color, so I think it suppose to be HOT, but how much HOT is OK? or TOO HOT is not good sign?
Why so hot? Lack of motor(pump) oil can cause this HOT? or too much OIL?
Thank you,

I have the same B&G pump/motor combo (I suspect many do)
It is always hot, but I can still place my hand on it, but only barely. (I think that falls under the 'less than spit-sizzle' category Dubois mentions)
According to Bell & Gossett, it DOES run Hot, normally. However, i've also just discovered that it *can* be oiled. I'm going to research how & where, and i'll post back here.
(apparently, they're more concerned w/ strange noises than w/ heat - hence the oiling) I also started mine on a regular vacuum schedule - to reduce the lint/dust build-up on it. Boiler rooms get so linty.

motor has two oil ports.
I put lub oil every month...
if I put much oil, then excessive oils drop running down from bottom of motor into floor...
but I am wondering, maybe, too much OIL can cause his "HOT"? or the quantity of OIL doesn't matter?
or, no oil makes this "HOT"?
Thanks
