Can anyone tell me how long can a washer / drier should last? Theoretically I guess you can keep them going as long as replacement parts are available but is it really cost efficient?
I have heard an owner say that usually after 9 years machines need to be replaced although I am looking at a location that says their washers are 15yrs old.

It is, of course, all a factor of usage,

and dryers tend to last longer than washers.

I decided a few years ago, that rather than nurse old washers at about $1,000.

a month (repairs), I would buy new, and use the opportunity to raise prices on the

new machines.

It has worked like a charm, my repair bills are almost nothing, the loan is paid from

the repair savings, and the 50 cents per washer increase !

My customers are happy,

My machine salesman is happy,

I'm happy,

even my repair guy is happy (he would rather install new than fix old)

My new policy is not to raise prices unless I'm putting in a new machine !

Try it, you'll like it !!
