My main incoming water line, 1 1/2 in about 21 feet went missing Sat at 12:20am, Bet they got $50 for it. Cost me $800 to fix it Saturday morning. Lucky me, they shut the water off ! Have the face even the license plate of the driver, no good, can't see him with copper or the background dude who did the cutting. Light yellow Ford PU circa 1985 with a brown stripe on the tailgate, a Sunoco sticker on one side of the step bumper and an American flag on the other. Lic# J52 7AH Florida. Stab his tire if you see it.

PeteF,
Get his name & address from the state DMV & pay an off-duty cop $75 to visit this guy. You may or may not get your copper back, but at the very least you may scare the bejesus out of him and he won't be back at your stores for a 2nd helping - there might even be an outstanding warrant on him...

The detective who worked the "crowbar dude" last year is on the case, I talked with him today. He is very interested in my info, something may get done. Still like to stab his tire:)
"Crowbar dude" got 30 months jail for crow barring changers at about 15 mats and car washes and doing some 40k in damages.. 24 months to go and he is out again..
I had a restitution hearing just yesterday, the court awarded me $858 in damges, the crazy thing I may get paid, as another mat owenr was at the hearing and he had already received a check for over 2k in damges. I guess from the get away driver. The case is like they are mutually involved and liable. I am not spending the money just yet :(
Another crime update, I got a call today from a customer and she ID a picture of a guy who was involved in ripping a changer off the wall and stealing it a several months ago. Gave me the address and apt number. Guess he is holed up with his mom,, cut his dreadlocks and only comes out at night.. I wish I knew someone big to handle this myself..squish a bug type thing.. why I don't carry a gun, get to pissed off at these bums.

laundromat crime is up 300% at my stores and we only have the economy to blame, i spend 2 days a week dealing with police, fixing damage and filing claims. It's quite sad, i have never seen it like this in 20 years in the business.

Crime Watch reader report: Laundromat customer robbed
February 17, 2008 at 11:21 am | In Crime, West Seattle news |
Just out of the inbox from Olympic Heights Laundry (7347 35th) owners Paul and Dave:
Just wanted to let you know, that I just spoke with one of our customers who was using the Laundromat last night about 10:30 and she was attacked and robbed. She is one of our regular customers who comes in to do laundry around 10:00 PM, we allow our customers to start as late as 10:00 PM, and the door has an auto lock on it. She said that 2 heavy set African American girls came in and asked to borrow 50 cents, and then left. They returned a short time later to “warm up” and when she was in the back of the laundry they pinned her and took her credit cards, phone, and some change. She did state that they appeared to not be very good at their robbery, with one giving all the directions and the other doing the job. She did report this to the police and I believe I know who these suspects are as they wait for a bus right across the street.

Pete,
Just curious, were the meters and the copper stolen all outside down there in Florida? (we have the cold temps so I have never seen a meter outside). I have noticed many building owners have begun to build huge cages over their HVAC units. Is that a possibility for meters as well?

The meter were not stolen, it was the copper line after the meter. I will be enclosing the buildings' a/c units in cages very soon.
If it is not nailed down someone will steal it. Wish we could do the cutting of the hands like some other country. Might slow the thieves down.
