View Full Version : Appraisal of laundromat value
I'm in Maryland, going thru divorce, need an appraisal for the value of business.
Any experience in this matter?
Lookig for reference if possible, expected fee for appraisal, is appraisal any good for real or just paper guess?

Call your bank, ask them who appraises stuff they repo. I work with a guy here that does that kind of thing, he calls me to get an idea of equipment value.

Give her the MAT. Say here take it it's yours.
Just hold the note so when it fails you can repo it.
Get her ass to work that could be the best thing that ever happens for you.
LOL it has happen to me. Is it a sub S Corp. ?

the business is worth more than the value of equipment. This is a specialized business. I would ask a broker who sells mat or a distrib, as most buy and sell them, to help you get a value. You can read thru the many posts here and see folks who wanted to buy a mat get answers to valuation questions also. I sussect you are looking for something more tangible, so the local guys who sell mats would be best case. Just tell them you are thinking of selling and what should you list it for? Give the soon to be ex-wife the keys for a few weeks and let her run it.
Thanks for some ideas.
There's a house involved too, and she wants it too.
I did some reseach and believe there are some indenpendant business appraisal for all kinds, not specialized in laundromat, and they charged $3000 and up.
I wish she take the mat, but doubt it very much.
Single life seems so good right now. You drink beer or do dishes whenever you feel like it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Appraisals can be real misleading. In a divorce situation it is usually worse. The party that wants to cash out always feels that the business is worth so much more. The true value for a mat is what it will sell for on the open market. Put it up for sale with either party retaining the right of first refusal.
