Is there any benefit of reducing the dryer temp from 190 to 180?
Is there any savings in gas or would it just pissing off customers?
Would they notice a 10 degree drop?

Customers want HOT dryers. If you need to change something to enhance revenue, cut the time per quarter.

Seflaundry,
Winston is completely right. Customers want HOT dryers and know which laundromats have good reputations for HOT dryers and which don't. If you get your store on the "S... List" through negative customer word-of-mouth, it can take you YEARS to rebuild your reputation. Just watch how many customers apply the "hand" test - they wait a few minutes until the dryer gets hot, then press their hand to the glass - that tells the whole story...

Been there - done that.
Changed all my dryers from 190 to 180. Said I will save a little gas and no one will notice ten degrees.
Boy was I wrong. My refund/complaint box was stuffed full over the next couple days.
Back to 190 for me.
Next I posted notices of dryer price increases, 10 minutes to 8 minutes well in advance. The result was many bitches and gripes along with a few complaints in the box.
The last time I just decided to go from 8 minutes to 6 minutes with no notice.
I changed the price on the signs on the wall and all the machines after closing one night. Guess what? No complaints. Zero, Nada, Zip.

I here a lot about other owners who lowered their dryer temps and I doubt if the customers took a thermometer with them.
I have a wall of old Loadstars. They are noisy, ugly and have jagged edges around the door and clothing gets caught regularly. Then I have newer Continentals.
I get more revenue from the Loadstars and can always hear them running. They are hot and customers love em.
