i just Hired and fired a New Employee in 2 days.
Thought there job was to sit in my office chair and watch T/V.
NOT, NOT, NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
I come back from my other mat, and My Awesome Mat was a Pig Stie. I removed all heaping trash cans and dumped while my Employee watch from my chair. Then I proceeded to clean up 20 dryer sheets and candy rappers all over the floor. All this time this Idiot watched me. Guess what I said when I was done cleaning the Mat. You are Terminated. Please leave!.
I hate people rite now.
Tini has had enough. Need rest.

Lazy, is not in my memory banks as a word.
I clean from top to bottom here @ #1 mat, to go too #2 mat and clean that one from top to bottom, all this hard work to have my Employee watch the boob tube.
Not. Tini

take an extra $20 out of the till and pay yourself for cleaning up, you'll feel better :)
next time try giving the employee a list of stuff you want, no they have to do, done. It may help with the ones who are not total lazy bums..and I would have fired him also if they watched me clean and never helped..

I'm with Pete on using a list. I've got two attendants, one with me 9 years and the other 1 1/2 years. They both use a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly check off list. There are about 50 items on the daily sheet. Using a list makes sure everything is accounted for everyday, forces consistancy, and allows me to see who does what and how they do it. When I enter the store after hours, and I see something I don't like, I check the list to see if it was done or not. A great monitor. The attendants seem to like the check off list since they don't have to worry about forgetting anything. We add to the list or modify it as needed.
Tini, I would have fired the person after I asked them if they knew what they were suppose to be doing. When they said yes or fained ignorance, they still would have been history. Then, after they left, cleaned the store. I couldn't have waited as long as you did!!! I HATE lazy people.
Hey suds post your to-do list.
I too have a list that is only 6 or 8 items.
A word of advice. Include specifically checking the floor including the bathroom for dangerous conditions particulary anything that would cause a slip and fall, include times(like every 30 minutes on the hour) and make your employees initial them.
When I had a slip and fall, one of the first things the insurance co. asked about was this checklist.

Here's our check off list. I think I'm going to add something about checking the floor, etc. for dangerous conditions, as Andy suggests. This check list is used only when we have an attendant on duty, from 5 PM to closing, at 10 PM.
We make a distingtion between SPOT cleaning (things that are obvious and make the place look better such as dryer sheets on the floor, etc.), DAILY cleaning (machine surfaces, floors, etc.) and DETAIL cleaning (using a toothbrush to clean out grooves of soapy kucker, etc.)
Let me know if any of the items need further explanation.
