Its time for some new machines. Any info on 40Lbs washers made by Maytag or Wascomat would be great. If you have them, what do you like or dislike about the machines and would you buy them again today.

Thanks for the help

I have Wasco 640's. I would buy them again. Very easy to work on, easy for customers to understand. You can drop the prewash and extend the main wash.

However, I would take a really close look at 40# softmounts before finally commiting. The Continental 40# softmount would probably be my choice, but Maytag is coming out with a softmount line shortly.

I have new Maytags in a few sizes, 40# being one of them, about 1.5 years old. Maytag has seal problem, it starts to make noises like steel against steel. They know this yet do not have a solution yet. IF you buy them make sure you have in writting a statement to this effect The doors leak some times, and the washers are prone to oversudizing. The old 3 phase power washers are gone, the newer inverter drives have to much built in protection.. The good news is people love them, and the extra wash cycles are easy to spend extra money on. I have never had Wasco, so can not compare

I, too, have Wasco 640's. They do more turns per day per machine than any other washers in my store. If you're not already using Emerald controls, and especially if you're unattended, I'd suggest sticking with mechanical timers on Wasco gen 6 machines. First-time customers seem to get confused by the electronic version of these machines.

I have the Wasco 640's and I am unattended and the customers don't seem to find it hard to understand and operate them. Also Wascomat just updated this machine and you can see it on thier site they call the new controls compass. I would never buy anthing but Wascomat but then you can find us kind of guys for just about every brand on the market. But they do have the best soap system on the market.

Continental has large soft mounts that are available. Does anyone have any or done any research into them?

I have the Wasco 630. It is a very different machine from the 640, but I am not sure a customer can tell without them being side by side. It has been trouble free. I would also look at the Dexter if it is available in your area.

Don't even think of buying Maytag over Wasco. Maytag has to re gain credibility in my opinion.

Agree with waiting on Maytag. Since the buyout I am having problems with getting a few parts and now have been told they are halting production on my computer top loaders. Wonder how long they will build and support any other current production model. Know you didn't ask but I would buy DEXTER. Love em.

The Maytag plant that made the toploaders and the Neptunes closed in October. According to WP, since they know that the Maytag commercial market is huge, they plan to have parts available for a long time to come.

We have a couple of new 40 pound Maytags that were installed in March of 2007... so far has been a decent machine. As Pete F stated, the customers really like them.

I dont really understand why anybody would buy a machine from a company that does not make them but just has someone else build them with there name on them. Why not just buy from the one building the machine and cut out the middleman.

I have 13 year old Maytags and Dexters. The Dexters very seldom breakdown, look alot better, and do more turns per machine than the Maytags. I bought eight new Dexter T600's last year. I don't like the silly (FALSE) fault codes that occasianally occur.I would prefer a discrete fault code. The most common is the (f7 I think) slow drain code. Usually caused by a customer over soaping and over suddsing. As soon as you get your Dexters, remove the finger on the coin-mech, or it will have stuck coins. Supposedly the new quarters are a little lighter than the old ones, and you will find NEW quarters stuck in your coin drop if you don't remove the little finger. Since we added four Dexters, our silly top loaders are collecting dust,I LOVE IT!!! Our Dexter Distributor STINKS, so were buying and currently looking for used Dexters. Send me a personal message if you have any 40 or 60 pounders for sale. I don't know much about the Wasco's, but I don't want to stock any more parts, or learn any new machines. I the compass system is too much, our customers have a hard time figuring out that they need to latch the door before the washer will start.

Well I made my descion last week and went with the Maytag 40s. Looked around and the Maytag Dist. in my area can not be matched for their service. Plus the 5yrs parts warranty is awesome. Thanks for all the help.

Who is your Dexter Distributor? I really like dealing with mine.
