Im currently in a frantic state, have been in the laundry biness for 2 years, found you guys on some web search prior to buying my first laundry and I'd love to see the board go un moderated for about a week so as to allow for all of the lunatics to shred themselves and take over the place.

State: Florida
How long in biz: 8 years
Found Coinwash: I think thru a reply in the old wasco board
Direction: forward. It is the most used BB/forum on l'mats so you are doing something right or just lucky. Whatever the reason it is difficult to fool with something that is working fairly well. Just watch for comments as time goes on an act on the ones that would be useful. I would like to meet some of you, maybe Vagas? It would be nice if Coinwash could set something up, for us and new people. Yes, I know it costs money. Pass a hat.

I think this is the best laundromat forum. It would be nice if you can get some equipment vendors and manufacturers to participate and answer some technical questions and hear our feedbacks which would help them design better equipments.
With number of members this forum has, it should not be difficult to pursuade some of the vendors to participate as it doesn't cost them anything.

What direction would you like to see Coinwash.com go? -- I only asked that Coinwash continue post all messages and leave the message content alone -- to only censor vulgar wordings and personal attacks in any post. This is one place for us lonely souls to bounce old/new ideas and share our ups and downs of our business with one another. Heck, I even get a laugh every once in awhile from reading some of the posts. I look forward to reading all the biased information from all (everyone comes from different background, experiences, and agendas.) Can the distributors among us raise their hands?

I was not sure how I found out about this board, I listed I thought from the Wasco board, so I must have been right. I know there are many serious Wasco heads here, and it is a shame your company shut it's board down because of negative comments about (some) of the machines (the W-16 comes to mind) I feel bad as I might have played a part in its demise, (my favorable comments on Dexter and IPSO HF-55's, maybe just coincidence) but the end result is THIS board, which I enjoy. Kind of like meeting your buddies at the local gin mill at the end of the day and talking shop. I drink vodka, but other than that is the same...
I hope someday those big companies with real advertising budgets get behind this board to help support it. The internet is free, but costs someone.
I saw a post on CLA not to long ago, they reckoned this board to a "chat room" saying it was full of chit chat and of no real use. I am here to chit chat about biz anytime; I thought that was the purpose of a BB!

I too learned of this board from the old Wasco board. I think they made a mistake in shutting it down. I have not been to their website in ages, I use to visit it daily. You would think that from a marketing viewpoint that would be quite valuable. I like most people realize that just because you read it on screen does not make it true. So, even though some people had bad things to say about wasco machines I was willing to make up my own mind.
A digress, it is nice to have a site like this where one can come and express their opinions and get answers to questions quickly from others in the business.
It would be great to have a sub-forum just on equipment repairs and trouble shooting so that when you have a machine problem you could easily search for it. Perhaps if we could get a manufacture rep from each company to join the board and moderate such a forum that would be helpful as well.

Pete, are you saying, WASCO shut down their forum because some people represented their opinion in print, against a wascomat machine??? Sounds pretty darned stupid. Seems to me, anyone with half a brain should have responded to the negative feedback, before acting like a brat and taking his game and running away.
This seems to be a trend, no one likes negative feedback. Wouldn't negative feedback help to perfect a product and produce more positive results?

Back when I was in management consulting and did work for major mutinational chemical and plastic companies doing customer satisfaction work we loved negative feedback. Positive feedback is worthless fluf, negative feedback is actionable information.

I'm in Washington.
Been in the laundry business here and in CA for 25 years.
Found this site doing a web search.
I like that anything goes, except vulgar language and pesonal attacks. (Feel CLA site is too "politically correct") Finding solutions to problems is very important, as is getting input about new equipment purchases. These things need to be totally uncensored.

8 years with small mats in my rental properties, which led me to
2 years with fullsize coin laundromats. Learning every day.
Have no clue how I found Coinwash, probably a reference I saw somewhere, or a google search.
I would like to see more discussion about machine pro's and con's, specific by model. Maintenance issues and solutions. Insurance companies, prices paid, contacts. Creation of data resource areas for info like this. Threads categorized by type - advertising, maintenance, insurance, brands, purchasing info, etc.
Lots of us do WDF, but have no clue about chemicals, spotting, stain removal, etc.
I'm with Kirby. Its nice to hear good things about our businesses, but its the bad things people see and say that we need to know. Constructive criticism means far more than even sincere praise.
More input from the lurkers (yes, that means you!! :) )

Found site using Search Engine or through CLA site.
There are several things that could be done to make this a more productive site.
1. Develop a glossary for terms for new viewers to understand postings easier. (like "soft mount", ADC, Gen6, etc. )
2. A list of all manufactures of equipment, equipment suppliers, etc. Refer to www.autocareforum.com to get an idea.
3. Develop subgroups for specific machine brands and/or topics for people with similar equipment to refer to easily over time. Examples, Top loaders, floors, dryers, water heaters, etc.
4. Develop a FAQ (frequently asked question) area to refer people to as a beginning point and thereby avoid the redundancy.
In short the website is a good start but a there is a ways to go.

Just surfin the internet highway when I found this offramp
Some issues:
Spell checker.
Keeping it simple is best. By adding too much, or dividing into multiple sub groups will take the simplicity out of it and it will become a chore to find things.
As ChuckB stated, a FAQ for newbies (and myself) would help eliminate redundancy.

Just 2 months since I took over a "real open to the public" unatended mat in one of my centers.
came here through CLA
Coinwash.com and the CLA board should get together.
we just need one good board, several posts are duplicates on each board.
also spellchecker would be nice.
the board is great, good people lots of advice and ideas.

found this site from old Wascomat site.
When people ask me about this business,I ask them to visit this site first before see a dealer or broker.Maybe you should place a ad in the Journal so more laundromat owners can find this site.

Coinwash had an ad for well over 2 years, and this type of advertisemnet costs a few bucks. Coinwash has great potential and the Coinwash name and advertisements should be spread where ever fruitful. Unfortunatley great exposure costs a few more bucks than is had at the moment. We are currently pursuing sponsers that will allow growth and further exposure.
We could start a donation schedule from members as well as gaining commercial sponsers where the funds allow the Coinwash.com to spread the wealth of information via advertisments.......any personal sponsers?
