View Full Version : Dexter "express" washers Anyone have them?
I am looking to replace some top loaders and I like the Dexter 25lb washer.
The standard washer has a 100g spin but if you pay about $500 more you can get the same washer that spins to 200g.(larger motor, different pulley sizes etc)
Anybody have either one of these washers?
I would be using them for Wash and Fold a lot but they will be in the store available for coin customers.

You will save money on water, they use less a cycle, it will also shorten your drying time. most stores make up the purchase price in saving in 12 -18 months. Your turn may be faster due to the WDF.
One word of caution. The 200 G is aggressive. Make sure it is mounted well....
I have them. They do spin faster but I just don't know (really don't know how) to tell if the clothes are coming are dryer. For the extra $500 , like you, I too purchased them. Atleast I think in my mind I'm saving/contributing to the environment. Other owner make a marketing point to charge more on those - I didn't do that. My customer barely can pronounce "soap".....But I don second on mounting. Make sure the are leveled and are grouted. I have them "purring" for the past 3 years. We do all of goose blankets in them.

Thanks Ajay,
Sounds like you are happy with them.
I always grout my installations, I also tighten them with an impact wrench.
20 years and have never had one walk away yet.

I have 10 new express 25lb washers for 2 months . My old customers since 1969 keep asking what did do to the dryers the clothes are drying sooo fast. So it goes to reason because I did nothing to the dryers it must be the washers, bodman

I hope you lowered the mins on your dryers or turned the heat down a bit.
industry wide one consistent complaint from customers is that dryers are NOT hot. With my washers, I don't have that problem and I specifically keep my dryers at maximum temp. My wascos are set at 7min/.25. I've been told numerous times that although my washers are expensive, it cost them less drying than any other laundromat in the area.

The way you tell if the washer is getting more water out is to weight them, wash them in one type of machine, weight them, then the other, weight them again. The differance is the amount of water that was removed from each. Water weights 8.34 pounds per gallon. From this you can get a percentage. Say the clothes weight 25lb dry and in the older unit they came out at say 30lbs wet. Then in the newer high speed spin machine they come out at 28lbs. The first mcahine left in 5lbs of water(30-25) and the second left in 3 lbs(30-28). Then you divide 3/5 eguals .60. Like in school subtract from 1.00 (1.00-.60)and times by 100 to get the percentage. In this example it would be 40% dryer.
tx. this is good info.
