I am comparing purchasing new vs used Dexter T-600s. I have found a few used ones but they have been sitting around in a warehouse for 8-10 months. I'll do my best to check the bearings and give the machines a good visual inspection. I am curious about the seals in the machines since they have been sitting idel for so long. Anybody have any opinions on the seal concern? Machines are 6 years old.

How long do you think they sit from the time they are made untill the time they are installed in a mat? 6-8 months does not sound like a long time to me, I bet new inventory sits that long or more.

In the warehouses, the used ones have soap scum on the seals, the new ones do not.
I have no idea how this affects the "shelf life"

My concern is that the seals dry out over time thus cracking. New seals haven't been exposed to the elements Maybe I am too conservative?

I have reistalled 2 t-600 units that were 8 years old and had been in storage for 18 months no problems. The units were older but had low turns.

Should not be much of an issue.
Any time a machine sits for a long time 1-2 years + it is a good idea to replace seals. however many do not and do not have an issue. I would get new hoses.
I have sold reconditioned and used equipment for years. I have probably sold 700-800 units. I have only had 2 issues with seals. I do not think either of those had anything to do with sitting. Check them, if they seem dry and brittle have them changed.
