Most brands including the dexter are good machines.....If I were putting together a store, the only dryer I would consider buying is the American 236. Radial airflow is very forgiving to installation shortcommings. Two totally seperate pockets that are independant of each other. One single venting connection on the top. The glass gets hot !!!(customers love hot glass). proven 20 year design. Easy to service, Two belts that can be changed in 5 minutes with no tools ........What genius came up with the idea of putting the belt around the drum. (although that design feeds my family !!)

A washer/dryer stack is appropriate for a residence, or a small appartment building. As a single machine, they make sense. Installing a bunch of them in your mat would be expensive -- you'd have the water and drain lines associated with the washers competing for space with the make-up air and vent stacks for the dryers. When one customer is washing, another is trying...they'd be in each others' way. There's a reason why most mats have washers grouped together and dryers grouped together, but no washers and dryers grouped together.

I have one in my home, great machine, wife loves it. Had a friend put three in his laundry and nobody used the washer part of it, customers thought it was a bottom dryer just like the top. He said he would never purchase them again for laundry use.
But like I said, great dexter product, never breaks down.

I rep for dexter. they are great for On Premises Laundrys. The cost of install in not that much more. In fact If you consider you are using wasted space (above washer) it is minimal. The units work well however often they are considered single user units (IE it is my dryer because i am using the washer)
It is an easy way to add a couple of bigger washers with a few more dryers.
Would I install a row of them? No.
Would I install them for a purpose? Yes.
I have several customers who have and they do get used. there is a learning curve, as there is with any new equipment.

There is a purpose for the machine or Dexter would not build it. In a normal mat probaly not the right unit, but of course not everyone has a normal mat. If the utilities work for you then maybe the stack will also. Having the gas, venting, make up air, water and drain all in one area is rare.
