I think this sight is very informative and this is my first post, i have a dexter t-400 (approx. 13 yrs old)that will stop and kick the breaker on final spin, we have replaced a relay and are now considering having the motor checked out , any other suggestions? (we only have the one machine so we cant swap parts with any other machines), drain is also clear. thanks in advance for any help given.

3 Phase Or Single Phase. ?? Put An Ameter On The Motor Load Side Of The Contactor Circuit. If Single Phase Also Check The Centrifigual Switch

it is a single phase and no codes...not sure what to look for(centrifigual switch?)

It either has a mechanical or electronic centrifigual switch. The mechanical is located on the front side of the motor. you will see 2 wires going to it. The electronic should be in the control panel. It will look similar to a capacitor. ..Black with 4 wires. ....Do this >>> (electronic type-SIMPAC) connect wires from terminal #2 & 3 together. (mechanical type) Connect the two wires on the switch together. I M P O R T A N T >>>>>> JUST AFTER THE MACHINE GOES INTO EXTRACT ( 1 or 2 seconds) DISCONNECT THESE WIRES FROM EACH OTHER. Another cause could be a bad capacitor or a bad motor. You will need a capacitor test meter to test the capacitors and an ohm meter to check the motor windings. Does the machine go into extract from the SAME wash direction ?

There's a good chance your Capacitor and/or simpac switch is bad. Also, the breaker should be replaced as well(I"m assuming you have more of the same breakers). If you're not comfortable with the meter, start with swapping the breaker. Then Buy the Spin capacitor. If that doesn't fix it then buy the simpac switch. If you replaced both and still have the same problem then it's the motor.
My quarter is on the Spin Capacitor!

I had a same problem..spinn capasider was bad..motor in dexter rarely go bad.. check capsider first..
If it has been going on for two years it would not be your capacitor, they go bad they are bad. The SIMPAC switch will normally go bad and stay bad. If you have a centrifugal switch that could be intermittent. If you have two wires coming off the back of your motor you have a c. switch. If thats the case, blow off the the back of you motor with compressed air than take some contact cleaner and spray the area really good then use a good spray lube. Beats spending $850 on a complete motor rebuild.

Was the motor so dirty? Wasn't that your oversight. Didn't that ring a bell.
Motor full of dust + dirt + grim = burn breaker (if persistent)
What about this post?

It did it again,,, looks like the problem was not solved. Any one looking for a CHEAP machine lol?
Does your motor use a simpac switch or does it have a centrifugal switch?

I had a SQ washer do this before, it was the motor. Before spending $850 to rebuild, maybe call NY laundry or a place like that who sells a lot of used washers, maybe can get a motor for much less. You can buy the same brand good used washer for about the same pirce. Your Canada $ worth so much now you can afford to ship from US and pay duty. You can also ship your motor to get rebuild in states and save some $$ also. I would try to buy a used motor for under $400.
