Wascomat W620 JR. Stuck In PreWash/Soak

Guys I have learned a lot from this forum and thank you all. One of my Wascomat W620 Jr. will get about 1/3 the way thru the pre-wash or soak cycle and hangs. I can get it to advance only by holding the solenoid up to get past this point. I also removed the drain hose and pulled out two bra underwires and a lot of lint. But this did not help. I started to take the drain valve off to check and clean but was not sure if I would mess something up.

when it gets stuck do you have water in the tub ? Is the water continuing to run into the washer ? If water level is ok, you could have a bad level control, or air tube , or a timer problem. Be sure that the drain valve is not leaking down. Even is the water shuts off, the level control could be at fault. If all the other parts of the cycle are ok,, then I would suspect the timer.
