I recently purchased a mat that has W/P tops, cont&dex frts, and dexter stacks. My other mats that I've had are Maytag tops, wasco frts and SQ dryers. After almost 20 yrs I need to learn some new machine repair. Anyway, I have a W/P top model #cam2762JQ that the tub is locked up. Is this a reasonable self repair type unit that parts are worth replacing? Or should I just replace the whole unit? Thanks for any imput..

I basically have the same machine in my store. (CAP2761JQ) Transmissions are relatively cheap (~$100) and are easy to change. I can usually change a transmission in 1/2 hour. I would change the clutch while you're at it. (~$15) You'll have to move it to the new transmission anyway.

Also check to see it the agitator dogs are worn. You can tell by attempting to turn the agitator, while at rest, to the left. (I think.) The agitator should only turn in one direction. If you can turn it both ways, then change the dogs. Otherwise the clothes will just sit there as the transmission agitates, but the agitator doesn't. They come in sets of four. (~$2)
