I am currently running a common duct for some of my dryers.
It is the same size from start to finish.
Does common ducts effect the heat on the dryers?
At the end of the duct it has two openings to the roof
would a third help or make things worst? Should i spend the money to have them individually going through the roof?

common dryer ducts are less preferred than individual ducts.

we recently discussed common in these threads:

why the roof? Through the outside wall seems to be most popular.

Here in Rhode Island, it is now illegal to vent out the wall. They have to be roof penetrations. They should all be ducted seperately if you want the most effeciency from your machines. I assume you are talking about the output vent. Intake can be shared as long as there is enough for the number of machines.

fishmanz,

I wonder if they would define an oversized opening coming out of the wall at a 45 degree & then straight up towards the sky with a tin china man's hat over the opening as an exception? If the exhaust is coming out at over a 10 foot height & pointed upward it should be classified as through the roof.

Being involved in real estate, maybe you can visit with those people to kind of help them to reason things out better before that law spreads to some of the other states.

Do you has scientific data proving that a common duct is always less efficient.... if the clean out of lint on that specific area that is common duct is efficiently addressed?
