Hi,

I ran into an interesting issue over the weekend on an Wascomat w124.
The machine starts and runs fine, but when it get to the hi speed extract cycle, it
spins fast for a few seconds, then stops and does this again.

If I hold the hi-speed relay down, the machine spins fine till I let go.

It goes the entire cycle, but since it didn't spin much in the
hi-speed, the clothes are still kinda soaking wet.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Check the dump valve and drain for clogs.

I agree with David. The extract relay coil is interlocked with both water level switches on the single phase I believe. There is a centrifugal switch too it seems but I am not !00 % sure of its function. When you physically held the hi speed relay down it causes the slow relay to temporarily drop out if I remember right.

I have removed the Drain valve and there is no blockage. I will check the rest of the drain also.

I have been working on my 23 Gen4 machines since June 1st(when I fired my mechanic). I have been able to resolve all the issues so far, but this one seems kind of tricky.

The Hi speed extract does always start and runs for about 4-5 seconds and stops, then runs again for a few seconds and stops. I will also rebuild the drain valve and see what happens.

I had a machine doing the same thing. The drain wasn't stopped up either.

After many months of dealing with it, I ordered new WLC and new hose. The new hose was a good 8" longer than the one I had installed on the machine. After I replaced it, no more problems.

I guess that over the years, mechanics would snip off the end to get a clean hose. I guess the short hose made the WLC too sensitive.

Today I replaced the water level control unit on this problem machine.
I didn't change the hose.

Now, it didn't even perform a hi speed spin in any of the 3 rinse cycles.
It did a very small hi speed rinse during the extract cycle, but not right away maybe about 1/2 way through.

Everything else runs perfectly and on time.

The prewash, wash, and rinse cycles are fine.
Water comes on when it is supposed to, the drain valve opens and closes when it is supposed to.
Water came in on the softner compartment right on time.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

If it spun out in the prewash and the wash but not the three rinses it sounds like you have a slow running drain, maybe a clog further down the pipe and by time it gets to the shorter three rinses the drain pipe is full.....Just a thought though.

Are you running with a load? Due you see water running down the glass? A water valve stuck open adding water? Make sure no water it being added. Get machine into drain turn machine off and let all water driain. Restart machine and see what happens. level tube could have a partial clog.

Thanks to everyones help, the issue has finally been resolved.

It turned out to be the WLC unit. The new one I put in last week was bad also.
Today, I swapped one from a good machine and it worked fine. Then I purchased another new WLC unit from a different vendor and installed it today.

Machine runs fine now, it does a hi speed spin in all 3 rinse cycles and also in the final extract cycle.

It was very furstrating since we diagnosed it to be a bad WLC and then I installed a new one that turned out to be bad.
