I have a maytag topload 12pd with computor board
The problem IM having is every so offten the machine just completly resets back to regular price and the tub is full of water. I've had this problem before and it was a bad computor board so I swapped a board with another working machine and IM stll having the same problem.

Brown out? A voltage drop, something as simple as too many machines on one circuit and the voltage drops when a new one starts, or even if the motor in that machine starts suddenly and the surge causes a drop in voltage, will cause the boards to get amnesia and forget what they are doing and reset to zero. You might check out your power usage.

I had the same problem some years ago and it nearly drove me nuts. But I got to talk to a Maytag rep and he told me that what's happening is that when the water valve shuts off (which means you have a tub full of water) there's a small voltage/current spike that (somehow) affects the control board so that it resets.

The cure he recommended is to install a pair of capacitors/filters on the water valve, one for the hot side and one for the cold. These capacitors have piggy-back connectors; disconnect the wiring from the valve, slip the capacitor connectors onto the spade connectors on the valve, then re-attach the wiring to the piggy-back spade connectors on the capacitor wires.

The Maytag part number is 902577. Your parts distributor may tell you that there is a new part number (and I don't remember what it was) for this part but the last time I tried to order any my distributor got a message that, using the new number, they were on back-order and there wasn't a date given as to when the part would be available. However, my distributor WAS able to get them using the old number, 902577. The list price is about $5.00 each.

And here's the good part: The darn things worked! So, you might give this a try.
