Is there a generally accepted cost per load that is used in the industry? I know it will vary place to place with different utilities charges but I want a sanity check on my calculations. For Wascomat front load washers and gas dryers in California I've calculated a predicted cost of 39 cents per load to wash and dry just for utilities. Does this sound reasonable?

It all depends where you are. My water and sewer alone run more than that.

18 Months ago I calculated my cost PER POUND is $0.42 for my attendants to wash and fold laundry.

So the answer is I don't know what your cost per load should be.

There are alot of ways to look at this. Do you include interest, taxes, depreciation, maintenance, labor, rent, snow removal, insurance, that trip to the Bahamas?

Or just the utilities?

Tom,

This is my actual cost per load including all tangible costs with no tax or depreciation consideration for December 2002.

For this cost all loads as in Turns are figured as one load regardless of size.

$.79 per load.

Tom, I figure it cost me about 43 cents to run a toploader on hot water. As Kirby mentioned, utilities can make a difference. Someone did a detailed post on costs not to long ago, maybe you can search the board for it.

For a quick "hard cost" take your water cost per gallon, add 10% for hot water costs, and then take 1/2 of that for the dry side.
