The other day I got D17 error in one of my Maytag Neptune MAH14PDs. The cycle kept asking for to be re-selected. I kept doing it till the wash finished.
The kicker is that the Maytag manual and repair book does not mention D17 error anywhere. Any idea?

part number 22003706 door lock assembly about $33.00 I do not know how hard to put in, probably fairly easy, just got mine today. I have a neptune doing the same thing, not quite as bad.

I replaced (at 2 different times on 2 different Neptunes) the Door Lock Wax Motor and the Door Lock Sense Switch. I can't imagine the door lock assembly will be difficult.
I don't have the exploded parts diagram in front if me at the moment so those might not be the exact names. When you look at the exploded parts diagram with the front off and the top lifted you should be able to identify what I mean.
