Ram Ingn' failed after 3 weeks to the man that installed it.

I can't belive this, I did my own cloths yesterday @ the Mat.
Toss them in my dryer that I installed the Ram Kit in with a smile.
throw in a $1.00 and walk away hereing the spark light the burner. I come back later thinking they will be dry, NO!!!!!!!!!!!.
Damn cloths where wet. I toss in anouther dryer, check Ram kit and it worked just fine, and has been for at least 20 more spins.
I don't know if this will be a good product to change over to.
For my first test run of only 3 weeks I give it a rateing from 1 to 10. I will give it a 5. Tini 2 cents

In the installation instructions, it says to place the ignitor in the coolest part of the burner. Forget this, put it right over the burner.

I had the same problem with intermittent flames. After I moved the ignitor over, no more problems.

David, thanks for the reply.
My spark Ing' is over at least two of the first set of holes in the row in the burner. I will try to move closer and see.
I have it 3/8 from burner, any closer I noticed it grounding on the burner, not the ground rod for sparky. So I moved it up to 3/8 from top of burner and that problem was handled. I will move sparky over at least 3 holes in the row and try that.

I changed over a group of dryers years ago from glow bar to rams, and it so happned one of the rams was defective. It was actually the sparker, it is a sensor for the heat also, so if the heat does not come on quick it will shut the coil off. Keep it close to the burners as others have said.

I have heard that the synetek kits which are an almost direct replacement for the Rams are a bit better, they try to ignite 3 time before shutting down. Ram's only once.
By almost direct, the only difference I have seen is the bolt pattern for the casing.

Guess you like to do your own laundry. Honestly, I was just glad to see noone was still babbling on about some ram ignitor. Who cares, I've got about 20 of them lying in a box in my garage and have NEVER replaced one in two years.
