First of all, I am new in laundromat business.
I have Maytag 80 lbs washer, but last week, the machine has been
stopped. Mechanic said the motor is damaged so I have to replace it.
I have called to Maytag and they keep telling me that they will stop by
to pick up the motor has damaged, but Thay Have Not Showed Up for
2 Weeks!!!!!!!
So, I just decided to do it by myself.
The weight of motor is about around 200 lbs. Right?!
Anyway....is it possible to replace it by myself? Any picture or
diagram help me out while I am replacing it?!
Also, I found it one of websites on side of this page. Its cost is
$2000. I think it is too much, is there any way I can buy used motor?
Thanks. And I have some more problems I have to ask to your guys such as
bill changer problem.
Thanks and please help me out.

Yes that motor is expensive, The machine is crappy to begin with. That motor cannot handle the load of a 80lb washer. The slightest problem with the drain and that motor will burn. Anything higher than a 60lbs really should have and inverter drive/motor other than that you will never get enough g-force to extract out any real amount of water from the clothes on that size washer.
Take it to you local motor place, but make sure you check the drain both inside and outside of the machine for debris before you start it up again.
BTW thats a $10000 machine give or take. 2k for the motor is really not that much.

Ok. This is whole Story.
I guess it was like 2 months ago. 80 lbs washer stopped, I called to
Maytag, a few days later, repair person came out and
told me motor is damaged, had to be replaced. Luckly, it was cover under
warranty, I did not pay anything, but it took more than a Month!!
I understood it was big, heavy motor, hard to carry out.
After they installed new motor, a washer worked find, but had little problem.
It worked 10 min and stopped for 5 min, had to press button to start again.
Stop, work, stop, and work again. Called Maytag again and he told me
voltage is lower than 200v. He told me this washer requires standard
208-240volt to operate correctly, but he got 197v.
It caused machine keep stopping, but he did not take care about electricity.
So, I call someone who is electrician and he diagnosed. He said it is fine.
He guessed that problem might be inside machine somewhere, not
motor voltage. Ok. weird problem.
So, my dad and I decided to watch it out few more days.
While doing it, the washer stopped again, call Maytag , and repair person
told me motor is damaged.
He gave me 2 options.
First one was that replace it to brand new one, cost $2000.
Seond option was that they take it to manufacture and
rewound it, cost less than half of new motor.
I decided to go with cheap way even though it may take long.
All it happed, I guess, 2 weeks ago, might be last week.
Last Friday, Maytage sale manager called me that someone will be
there soon to pick the motor up, but did not show up.
I called them this Tuesday and he was out of state.
He told me he will be pick it up Thrusday, but did not.
I left voice mail 2 times, but nobody has not called me back yet.
I understand that if they are too busy, they cannot keep the promise
sometimes. It is ok, but at least, they have to call me to reschedule it.
I understand the problem may be caused by my fault.
However, the first thing is that motor has to be fixed.
While they are taking care of my motor, I am going to talk with
Maytag repair person and electrician I know. Just want to know
who's diagnostic is right.
Anyway, I guess this is whole story up to now.
I just told my dad who does not want to make serious problem and he
told me wait until next Tuesday and let's to something.

Huh how long have you had this machine?
How long was it running fine?
How many of this type machine do you have?
Why does you dad say "He does not want to make serious problem"
If it's not fixed and it's not making you money isn't that a serious problem?
You stated "I did not pay anything, but it took more than a Month"
how long has this machine been $$ OUT OF ORDER $$
Yes that motor is expensive, The machine is crappy to begin with. .
How is it your fault???
"I understand the problem may be caused by my fault"
WHAT????
Now I asked who have you called
How about your distributor who sold it to you and installed it.
In your story you have to cut to the point the machine does not work and it's a boat anchor.
Get mad :(

I would NEVER install this washer in a place with a voltage of anything less than 210 volts or so and even then that is a little low. Less than 200 volts forget about it. You are wasting your time. You will have many more problems in the future regardless of new or rebuilt, THAT'S A GUARANTY

Who am I supposed talk and complain about this problem?
Does Not really Maytag take care of this Kind of problem like Brian,

Who did you buy the washer from, how old is it, and who is the local distrib? It sounds like Terry O Launtry Equipment. Calling Maytag direct is great for problem solving, but they do not service the machines, their distributors do.
If you are running below stated voltafe then it would void the warranty. Maybe time to call the electric company to solve the problem.

I buy washers and dryers from sales manager, name is Brian, and local
distributor is 'Caldwell & Gregory Inc' in VA.
I know distributor should control thoses problems, but they do not.
Right now, I am talking about the warranty or electric problem.
I am talking about their attitude and keep breaking appointment.

You did not say how old the washer was. In any case, try calling Jim Hunter at Mayatg 641-787-8654 641-787-7000 Note: He will not like the voltage reading you posted. Maybe try to fix that first. Your distrib will be the one who has to fix this in the end, keep calling them. You seem to pass over them and go after Maytag direct, which is the wrong approach. Maytag will not send a tech out, your dealer will have to do that. Get back on good terms with them.
Do you have multi meter?if you don't,buy one.
If you don't know how to use meter,learn.....
You can check voltage yourself, check ohms in the motor.
