Hi everyone,

I am new to the Laundromat business. Just purchased one last month.

I am fairly technical but don't know much about the W74, W124, and W184. These are the 3 types of machines I have in the store.

I would like to perform all the minor repairs myself if possible.
So far I have 2 W74's not working.

On the first one, the keltner coin accepter doesn't light up. It looks like it is not getting power. I have pressed both the spin and wash relays, and the machine does spin. I have swapped keltners and still the same issue. Any idea what to do next ?

The second machine, I put coins in and nothing happens, doesn't even start. Again , pushing the relays does spin the machine.

Thanks

Vic

On the first one check the fuse in the back and/ or the door switches.

On the second one check the operation of the door lock solenoid. Also it could be the lock board on the top of the capacitor in the control tray. After you put in the last coin manually engage the lock solenoid and see if the washer starts. If so then either the sol is bad or the lock board is bad or there is some mechanical binding keeping the sol from engaging.

Mark--

Not to divert, I hve a W124 that, after coin acceptance, slower than it should be to start cycle. Could it b the delay unit?

Yes, it could be or it could also be a binding lock assy which requires a larger voltage to get it go'n. The ciruict is bassicly like a battery that is charging. At some point the coil will have enough voltage to do it thing. If there is something resisting the sol then it will have to reach a higher voltage before it starts moving.

The fuse is ok. It seems to be something with the door lock assembly. When I shut the door a little bit, the machine works, when I completely close the door, the the machine doesn't work. But then I press down on the top switch and it works.

As soon as I stop pressing the button ,the machine stops again.
Should I replace the entire door assembly ?

If you want to make is simple an put the problem to rest and don't mind spending the extra money than change the whole lock assy.

Just a quick update, I installed a new door assembly and the W74 works now.
The cost was about $120 for the entire assembly.

Thanks for the help, on to the next issue.
