I'm planning on adding 4 more big washers and want to know the pros/cons/opinions between the Dexter T900 (55#) and Wascomat 185 (50#) machines.

While looking for some used units I compared some prices and can get new T900 for a few hondred more than rebuilt 185's.

That should tell you something right there.

Would you rather have a new Geo Prism, or a two year old Cadillac warranteed by the dealer?

Besides looking at up front cost, consider "life cycle" cost - what the total cost will be over the life of the machine. Add in all the repair costs. fuel costs, etc over the life of the machine, and your choice will be clear.

Let us know what you decide, and then be ready to back it up, cause a lot of us will be happy to put in our two cents worth!

Cheers,

NJ Jon

Both are good machines and reliable. It's up to you to decide which ones fit into your store look.

A new T900 will cost around $5500.00. If someone wants to sell you used rebuilt washers for almost the same cost, then something is off here. If you wanted a Wascomat, then you could get a new Wascomat for around the same price as the used one.

I would buy new as well ...as far as remark about new geo or used cadillac. I would wrestle with anyone who compaires dexter quality with geo quality. In my 18 years I have worked on everything except wascomat(not by choice, just no one in my geographical area has wasco..). I have concluded, under the hood they are all the same. In my family, we have owned maytags, speedqueen, unimac, dexter, ipso, hubesch, whirlpool, GE....my conclusion is based on last 18 years of working on them and helping friends in the same business.
