I got some new speed queen 60#r's. In Calif because of conservation of water they are pre-set at 16 minutes (thats for the whole pre-wash, wash, spin cycle etc...).
What is the normal wash time?
also my 50'rs are set at 50 minutes!!! what is the norm for these as well?
Thanks,

There is no "normal" It is whatever your customers will tolerate and whatever makes the best economic sense for you and your pocket. 16 min is too little. Normal wash with a prewash and 3 rinses should be between 25 and 35 minutes. Again whatever you customers will accept.
Find a cycle in the 22-27 minute range for that large a washer in your O&M manual - that should do it.

50 Minutes is way to long. I have SQ18-75#'ers. All ar very similar:
Normal - 26 min
Perm P - 23 min
Delicate - 20 min
All - wash, rinse, rinse

1 min drain
1 min rinse
1 min drian
30 second spin
1 min rinse

I have the 60#SQ and I left it at 16 minutes. 1 wash and 3 rinses just like all the others. In fact I advertise on my sign as the fastest laundry in town. Wash in 20 min, dry in 30 min Fold fast and your out in an hour! People love it!!!

Some customers may like the the short wash cycle, but I have had more than a few that have stated that the 60's from the other place was way too short of a wash (16 minutes). After reprogramming the Maytags hardmounts we have a prewash, wash and three rinses on 3 of the 6 selectable cycles (30 Minutes). One of the selectable cycles on the Maytags is a "Quick Wash"... which allows the customer to have that short wash option, but I haven't seen anyone choose this yet.

I could program a pre-wash but you would have to stand there and put the soap in a second time. The soap dispenser has 2 bays for soap but it all goes right into the drum. I see a lot of over sudsing issues with that.

I understand the oversudzing issue, the Alliance built machines I had would do that... certainly when they were using liquid soap and put into both bays at the start. The new machines have been in service around 3 weeks now and so far no sudzing problems [fingers crossed].
On a different subject: there have been some use the "Quick Wash" option... so that may be utilized after all!
