Where do I find information about possible EPA reuirements regarding the laundry industry? I found a website that has drycleaning business EPA issues, but no mat info?

Can anyone give me issues that the EPA may have with a laundromat?

I can't think of any EPA regulations concerning the day-to-day operations of a Laundromat.

I also can't think of anything directly related to a mat. However, I almost bought a mat and found out about an ongoing investigation of groundwater contamination by the EPA and DEP (Dept of Environmental Protection). It was due to an underground storage tank in the mat that had been dormant for years, but it was never removed or emptied properly.

It was another of those things that are probably a landlord liability issue more than anything, but we all know that if the neighbors started suing yours truly would be on the list.

I hope that helps!

There are no EPA concerns about laundromats. Your local sewer service and building inspectors will have more to say. Ours require a lint trap. You may have local or state laws which are more restrictive. We can't use phosphate detergents here in Virginia.
