I'm talking to this gentleman about some used equipment, I need to know what everybody thinks it is worth, I'm mostly interested in the dryers, but for a good price I would take everything PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR OPINIONS!!

I'll paste his comments below and attach a photo of the dryers.......

***********- 17 Speed Queen top load coin slide washers - 110v

- 9 Dexter front load dryers - originally natural gas, now set up for L.P. gas 110v

- 2 A.O. Smith propane Water Heaters - one made in 2000, only used approx 2 years, 85 gallons - the other made in 1979, 75 gallons

- Bulkhead - approx 46 feet straight run - includes "Federal Pacific" electric box and breakers - copper water lines - angle iron frame - unions at 23 feet to seperate

All these items are in a building beside a car wash I also just purchased. I do not know the working condition of any of these items, but I do have power in the building now, and I could probably test some of the washers on site. The dryers are all disconnected, plus there's no gas to the building now. However, a local laundry owner's service man looked at the dryers and said they were in surprisingly good condition for their age, and the burners looked really good. He said that he would have bought them, but couldn't use them at his locations because they're 110v. Also, the prior owner said that the motors on the dryers were replaced not long before they closed the business.

Out of the 17 washers, there are 4 or 5 that are obviously distressed, meaning the front is off the machine and looks like parts are missing. The look of the machines is honestly pretty rough, but I know nothing about them. Again, I think we can test them to find out more, they just have a regular 3 prong plug.

I've attached pics of the dryers. If you are interested in any of the other equipment, I can take other pictures and send them to you as well.**********

Thanks

It is very exciting to have a deal in the works. Especially where one project helps another. Best way to maximize investments. BUT, you need to slow down and do some better research. As an example, I have a barn full of 8 year old speed queen tops (45 actually). All have been used hard but have value in an operating laundry. What are they worth? - Nothing sitting in the barn. Would I sell them all for $100 each, sure. But, if I took the time and changed the belt on one and put it back on the floor - its worth $200 per month!

My point is, the machines - where they sit - have little or no value. If you uninstall, move, reinstall, fix all the little problems then generate some revenue, NOW they have value. How much are they worth to YOU. You will find laundry owners who have perfectly good stack dryers in their storage room they are using for parts.

You need to make visits to laundries outside your competitive area and talk to owners. Go visit Teeters Products in Fletcher OH. They have some used equipment but mostly, they have great information. They are a Dexter distributor, I have bought both new and used equipment from them. Would I use them to remodle a whole store - definatly NOT. But they are decent guys.

PS - I wouldn't touch those dryers.

Top loaders .25 cents each. Dryers I am a distrubuter I would pay 25-50 and sell them refurbished for what I had in them. If it was more than 500 they would never move. Understand that is with new paint and like new condition.

ANY LAUNDRY EQUIPMENT that has been sitting more than 6 months with no use is a problem waiting to happen. NEW hoses belts and seal will be required.

There is the legend of the 1969 GTO convertable that some one parked with 27 miles on in dad's barn and never came back that mom sold for 200 to get it out of the barn. Point is there is no gold sitting in the barn.

I would offer 200-300 for the lot if there were keys 100 if no keys. Yes it is an insult however Top loaders have a useful life of 5-7 years and dryers 20 all the above mentioned equipment is past that.

Bottom line is testing makes no difference. It will start however the hoses will go and joints and seal will be bad.

I agree with the other, scrap value at best, and that crap is heavy to move!
