What is everyone paying for water/sewer?
respond by Cubic foot, 100 Cubic foot or Gallon.
has anyone ever successfully negotiated a better price with their local municipality?
is there any kind of usage breaks in your areas?
has anyone recycled their water?
and whats the best way to determine gas cost per dryer?
thanks!

what I pay for water or sewer has no bearing at all on what you will pay, nor does it make any difference as to your profitablilty vs mine. I resell water, and gas thru machines and price those machines to make a profit for every gallon or therm that goes thru them. You simply do the same. There are owners here with $2 tops and .75 tops, mostly becuase of econmoic conditions which relate to costs. Not many water companies will cut you a break, the big hotel down the road uses much more.
Gas for dyers is easy, look at the BTU burn plate. There is 100,000 BTU per therm.

I realize what you pay has no bearing on what I will pay, I'm just interested to know what other folks are paying. I would like to know if my water rates are high or not, everyone around here complains about the cost of water and sewer.

I can assure you that yours are dirty cheap compared to mine. My water/sewer rate is 1.7 cents per gallon - that is not an error!

One thing you may look at. Most municipalities charges you one price for the water in and another price for the water out. Where I am located they only meter the water in. The sewer charge is based on the same figure. 200,000 gallons in 200,000 gallons out. You may be able to negotiate with them over the fact that not all 200,000 gallons goes back out for treatment. Some of that water is evaporated out through the drying process. So maybe 200,000 gallons goes in, but only 160,000 comes back out. It may save you some on the sewer charge. You would probably have to come up with some hard data to convince them. There probably is some kind of formula out there that would compute that based on the types of machines you have.

Wow, sounds like your rates are 3 times what mine are. DO you charge 3 times more than the national average for washers?
I charge 18lb $1.75, 30lb $3.00 35lb $3.50 and 50lb $4.50
dryers are 8min per .25.

I'm with you Cleancloths, my water/sewer rate is 1.6 cents per gallon.
this is what I was looking for, info on what other folks are paying.
It is the same here, metered in, and charged for both water and sewer, no matter what goes out.
And here, they charge double for sewer than for water.
If anyone has successfully negotiated the "not all of it goes down the drain" theory I would appreciate any info........

No, as water is only a small percentage of costs, so there is no need to have prices three times normal - but they are higher. My 18# washers are $2.89 at the moment, but they will likely go up soon. Dryers are a lot higher than you. You are vending at 3.125 cents/minute while I am at 5.286 cents per minute. But before you feel like you are underpriced, remember it is what you keep not what you gross and I would bet all the costs in my area are much higher than for most.

Ask the carwash guy what he pays. Sometimes they get a deal and you can try to get the same. Also take to the people at the SBA they can sometimes work wonders in your favor.
As to Recycling it is possible however expensive and difficult.

And I'm about 10 miles from cleancloths, and probably drawing water from the same watershed area, and I'm paying $0.0056/gallon for water+sewer. And that rate is twice what it was a year or so ago!

Probably the only break on water usage is by making sure you're on the right rate table. My home water, sewer, trash bill is about $ 70.00 a month, my mat is 5 blocks away, with a dumpster and 250K gallons a month usage at about $ 230.00 a month. The mat is on a "car wash/agriculture" rate. One other mat I have is unmetered at $349.00 a month, unlimited usage...

I pay 1 cent a gallon water/sewer and we are supposed to have all these swamps down here! It is cheaper rates in the desert! AZ and CA? from what I have heard, or by their vend price
18"s are $2, most stuff 10 cent a pound capacity dry 5-6 min 25 cent, though I have a store at 9 min due to stupid comps, but looking to notch that down ..
