Well, it just happened. Got strung, to the tune of $340. Have the guy on tape.....have to admire his mastery (right). I've reported him and his accomplice (a pig of a woman) to the police, they'll be sending their techs here to copy my disc. I have no illusions about recovering any money, but I hope the tapes help in some way to identify and catch the thiefs.

In the meantime, it's time to upgrade validators. I've been quoted about $500 for the Mars anti-string validator, and about $350 for a new Coinco anti-string validator. My distributor tells me the Coinco product is new, and he can't vouch for its performance in the field.

I've read many posts here about the effectiveness of the Mars validator. Anyone with experience with the new Coinco?

I have two Coinco validators. They've worked very well over the last five years, but are obviously very easily strung. I think I need to upgrade to something more secure!

I know a place mid FL got strung CoinCo last week, X-mas- new years peroid.
Get rid of your coincos people!! I have not heard of a MARs being strung, and they are quite reliable as well.

I'm not entirely sure what stringing is. I assume the same bill is used over and over while the thief takes all your quarters ??
Is there a way to detect this other than your quarters are gone and the bill hopper is empty? Can I test my Coinco and my standard 500 without damaging them? How.
This is a sensitive subject, so feel free to PM me with comments.

Just got strung this morning, with coinco validators. Unfortunately had just loaded up the hoppers last night and I'm out a bunch.

Based on my American Changer model, my only anti-stringing validator option is a Pyramid - are those reliable? I haven't seen recent posts on them here but they look like good machines.

IF you are unattended get rid of the Coincos! If attended you may want to get rid of them also, I have heard attended stores get strung. These guys know what they are doing and teach it in jail, so it gets around.

I do not know anything about pyramid.
Call my changer service, Scott at 1-863-669-9699 he deals with mats
and car washes so knows what is safer than others. I am sure he can sell you what you need or tell you what to do.

I have 8 Pyramid units in service and like them. You can get a face plate for them so they will do a direct replacement for Coinco or Mars. I have never had any problem with stringing of these units, but I don't know if anyone has ever tried. I have had Coinco's strung. The units sell for Under $300 each and repair service is fast and resonable.

I use Pyramid in American Changers AC1002 and AC 6000. To replace a Coinco you have to change the harness American sells a universal harness for about $30. The Pyramid will plug up to the same harness as Mars and the newest Coinco the MC2600. (9 pin). I buy my Pyramids from
