Hi all,

My employee got robbery two days ago when he was about to close the store at midnight. no one was in the store and two robbery were waiting just main door outside and grabbed pulled my attendant outside and asked money(according to my attendant), so he gave all he had(about $26), then the security car(which patrols this shopping center) approach my store, then my employee ran to securtiy car ask help, but security man just shouted to my attendant "RUN!! RUN!!" because security man saw the one of the robbery hold "GUN" in his hand and he feared his life too.
Security man drove out and he called police, in the meantime my attendant got three bullits in his legs...robbery ran away when police came to the scene....
I went to hospital and my employee's condition is not that worse...so I moved him from hospital to his home even his two bullits stays in the leg.
And I called my workers' comp to claim insurance coverage for him.
This is very brief store of what happened to my store....

In here,
can you help me a little...?

1) Does this kind of robbery(knight or gun watever..) happend all the time? how about your store?

2) Now I realized that living in USA costs sometimes "LIFE"

3) How can I prevent this from happening again? would it be better to hire two attendant(two man) at night? would it be better my employee must come out when the last customer come out? putting another security monitoring camera outside??

this incident definately scared me.....

Thank you,

Amex

another security camera outside might help avoid this again - closing attendant can see if anyone is waiting before going outside.

how predictable is the shopping center security patrol?
perhaps the closing attendant should wait to leave until the security patrol comes to escort the last employee to their car

what time do the other tenants in the shopping center close?
if you close the same time as another merchant both closing people can talk on the phone at closing time and then leave "together" and walk to their cars together.

Dubois has great answers. I have seen this type of security work before. Your closing person should call security and get escort to car if possible. Cameras everywhere help greatly. I close 1 store a couple nights a week, I park next to the door and watch. The attendant who clean and close bring a big husband.
Be sure to get the other 2 bullets removed from the attendants' legs!!
