I'm about to install a TV set in my store. Lots of stores currently have them. If you have one in your store, what's it tuned to? Oprah? Soaps? CNN? MS-NBC? FOX? Telemundo? Univision? Who controls the tuner?

How do you secure the TV set? We are open 24 hours, attended 8. I plan to use a relatively cheap set, and to hang it from the wall with a locking device.

2 TVs in each laundromats, one store has 90% Maxican customers, both TV has Univision or some Maxican show on,I have no idea what show is,my emplyee select them.
Other 2 stores:One TV English, one Univiston. If I am in store.I will have CNN or football on,your emplyee or customers will tell you waht they want,I screwed the TV control shot on TV so only emplyee can control them by using remote.

I have two LCD wide screens that are secured by a flat screen tilt mount that uses two pad-locks per TV. We usually tune one to the Animal Channel and the other may be on HGTV or FOX news or The Movie channel.
The remote is in the office most of the time.... but we will let some of the regulars borrow the remote during attended hours.

I let the attendant hold the controls but then the customers could ask to see certain channels, however we didn't allow certain viewing channels such as Jerry Springer because there were always children in the mat and that show should not be aired in front of kids! I always had Veto power in the event something was airing that I felt was inappropriate for the general population and I'd turn it, otherwise the customers and the attendant had the control.

I put in a color TV , it was stolen, a customer brought in a B&W it was stolen. They also stole the extension cord.
Give up on TV.. good thing, it was loud when I walk in. I have nice music playing. People even sing to it. Forget TV's!

Pete... must be the cost of operating in a large city/crime area. Our store is in a city of 13,000 population, so crime is not as big a threat.
TV's seem to work good here :)

Women watch their "stories" at the laundry. Anyone heard this from a female customer?

Have one in my store. Other then kids watching cartoons I see very few watching it. It does help keep the little darlings quiet. About half the times I walk in its not even on, attendant has the remote, and no Jerry Springer.

In my area, most mats are unattended. I use music....I think the homeless would enjoy TV too much.

Attendant controls the remote. 9 out of 10, when the kids request cartoons, they sit and watch for about 5 minutes, then get up and run around.

I don't have Spanish channels programmed into my TV.

Usually, the channel of choice is TBS. They usually show a good selection of family-friendly movies throught the day.

I saw Springer on Letterman years ago, he said, when asked about potential shows, " there is an endless " supply of people for his shows!
