Top Loader - Speed Queen - SWT 32 gal p/load
Front Loader - Speed Queen - Horizon - 16 lb. 23 gal p/load
Front Loader - Wascomat - W125 - 35 lb. 56 gal p/load
Front Loader - Speed Queen - 50 lb. 71 gal p/load
Can anyone validate the water usage per these machines? I'm looking at water usage on a store that it appears is using 20% more water then it should.
Trying to figure out why.
thanks,
George

Don't know where you came up with your numbers, but I know the Wascomat W125 number is wrong. Assuming it is set for factory water usage it uses 2 gallons per pound thus usage should be around 70 gallons or there abouts.
IF you get within 20% of actual using formulas you are not doing bad, that is about as good as you are going to get. Look at the numbers you presented - each machine has a different water usage per pound and if you are backing into numbers you have no real idea of what proportion of usage each machine gets. What I mean by this is based on you numbers it will take anywhere for 1.43 gallons to 2.66 gallons per pound of clothing washed. The higher one is 86% more water than the lower one. Unless you know the exact mix of usage you will be very lucky to nail the water within 20% .

One of our stores is using about 20% more water than expected and the cause is so far elusive. I am now in the process of analyzing the water usage between two stores. I got a small water meter for about $125 that I connected to a fill hose and install in line on the cold side. I am filling the washers with the same amount of towels for each test so that water level is consistent with average load volume. The meter is perfectly accurate and the results so far are as expected.
Wasco WE-16 16 gallons per wash
Neptune 20 gallons
The other Wasco Gen 5 and Gen 6 are yet to be tested.

I wonder if you are factoring in the toilet, sink, any free washes for the attendants or WDF usage, evap coolers if you use them, etc.
I figure that's at least 10% in my store.

currently there is fluff & fold people at the store. They are not on payroll & the mat gets the biz from them using the machines & in return they keep it clean & do light maitenace daily.
However at one point, thru the prior owner, they had keys to all the machines. Current owner never changed the locks.
Now the thought is, they are getting free washes from time to time.
The owner swears that the store averages about $1,500 to $2,000 more per month then the machine coin count vs water used.
He never counts the coins only take the money from the bill changers. Pockets X amount & deposits the rest.
Thanks for you replys.

Hey I swear all the time......
Sure I pocket $5000 a month from my store no one knows about trust me...... Just buy it and you will see.....
Water usage seems a little off.
I want to say the horizons are closer to 15-16 I am a little rusty on my SQ but I know that number for a top loader is VERY high. I would say the 35 and 50lbs are close.
