We require and are interested in a P>O>Sale system for the laundry mat. We are wondering what people are using to process there wash-n-fold business.

Also how do you get or take money out to go into the washers to do this laundry??

Seems to me it may become problematic with keeping track and seperating your WDF income vs. your other wash income.

Also employee theft.......

Any software or system ideas...

Thanks..

Couple of thoughts for what it is worth.

No matter how trustworthy you think you employees, WDF money will disappear. Honest mistakes or not.

Software is only as good as info entered by attendants. if they want to take $ they will. I installed Credit card swipes and have the attendants use a tech card for all WDF. This way no money leaves the drawer. I think it will pay for itself and customers seem to like using Credit Cards.

Some people use house quarters (colored) for WDF but this adds a whole layer of work. I tried it-took too much time.

Stay away from software called SHOPKEEPER. I got it and have too many problems to list.

If you already run a cash drawer to make change for large bills - adding WDF is easy. Get a big spreadsheet book - 11X14 - from office supply store - and across top - list description, total charged customer and then all your machine sizes - washers and dryers. Have the attendents list under each category the amount they spent on each size machine- with a total at the end. When the shift changes at laundry - draw a line under that shift's activities, and the total spent plus the total in the drawer should balance at end of each shift.

I was considering buying it. What types of problems are you having? Software, support, hardware?

don't buy it. If you send me a priv msg I will elaborate. Suffice it to say, the customer support is non existent and the software is not "robust" in other words it is not idiot proof at all. The guy is also non-responsive to my problems. Send me an e-mail.

We've been using the colored quarter system for years. does consume some time, but is pretty idiot proof otherwise. The other piece of the equation is keeping shift balence sheets strictly up to date. Very few problems.

my (colored) $0.02

Problems with Spopkeeeper continue. I have not been able to use the system since it was installed months ago. Crashes when trying to enter a ticket. Guy does not respond to my e-mails.
Going to sue him. No choice.
Stay away from Shopkeeper!

Sorry to hear about your problems. I wonder if anyone else on the board can help.

Thanks for saving me $$ and hassles.

I'm using the new POS system from ESD. It's great. Very easy to use. There is a picture for every function so it walks the attendent right through the sale. WDF is recorded seperate from counter sales. We keep track of the attendents usage of the machines by assigning them "class" cards. These cards are assigned a 100% discount so the reveneu dosn't throw of your books. It also tracks all cash in your drawer, prints every report you could ever want breaking it down to the different types of sales. It has a time clock for tracking the employees hours. It's list of functions goes on and on. You don't want to know the price tag amount though. It one of those,"If you have to ask the price, you can't afford it" items.

OK, I won't ask the price. However, when I saw it at the last Clean Show you weren't able to close-out the shift unless you had manager access. Manager access also let you make changes to just about anything.

Close out is to total up sales, cash drawer amount, and inventory for the change of shifts.

I don't want to have to be there for every shift change because the system is inflexible. Most cash registers give you that option.

Hi Fred, I guess that was an early problem. I have an "Attendent Manager " window that lets me check or un-check functions I want my attendents to be able to do. In fact, not allowing them to access the end of shift report is not an uncheckable option. Anyone set up as an attendent can run that report. It only ends their shift and gives their totals, not the entire days tally. My wife or myself would do end of day reports as managers in the system.
