Jonathan has made his way south and while I am working in Charlotte he and I made some Laundromat visits today. For those of you who did not know Jon's stomping ground had been the Charlotte area and this is where he had bought and sold his laundromats. He had to take me to the area's most interesting mats and of course some of the locations he held back in the day.
While we visited many well maintained establishments, we were surprised to see several mats with some serious issues within them. One issue we saw in many of the stores was repetetive, many rows of front loaders were not at the correct height for a customer to acheive the best satisfaction. For example, when the cart is put in front of the washer door, the door is unable to open, unless the cart is moved away. Do you guys have this issue with your doubles? I know BD, put his Continentals on pads that are way too low for the optimal height for a customers use. I would think it deters a customer to use them...... Other issues we saw were excessive out of orders, changers out, and in one store open access to drain pipes that had pungent smells offending the atmosphere. It was evident in several stores the owners were not attending to the business. This market is fairly saturaturated with mats.
Much smaller sized mats than the mats I was used to but sometime size does not matter...:) There were several great locations and gold nuggets we ran into with some great equipment the prices did not look too bad either.
Hope everyone is doing well, need to get my beauty sleep. You guys sure haven't missed me have you? Be good keep the chatter going!
