Of course it's not necessary!! until you NEED it!!!

Just like insurance, you don't want to pay it, you don't like to pay it, but you will be awfully sorry if it comes to a future problem and you then needed it!

Unfortunately, its a part of doing business anymore. ANY kind of business. Grocery stores, covenient stores, service stations. Look at the others in the same shopping center. Do any of them have the service? Or cameras? Or on premise security people?

If you have other security system, like camera, alarm, you may not need.
If you don't,it will be necessary.
One of my store is in shipping center, fully attendanted, less than one block ,maybe 400-500 yards to a not too small police depot. The store got broken into twice in one months, they even took a Standard changer SC62 out of wall the 2nd time.I called ADT ASAP after that.

then what did ADT said and did for your loss?
I have security surveilance camera system in the store, that's why I am asking why ADT needed?? They just call owner and police, that's it, right?

Yes,you can do the system with ADC or not.
I have one store open 6:00 AM by itself, the security system timer turn off the zone 1 but the office, changers, back room are still on,when attendant show up at 8:00 AM,they have to turn off the zone 2.I like the system since the changer, office will be always on,less someone turn it off.No break in after install ADT so far.

I use ADT. I have ADT select. You view and make changes to your account on line. I installed door contacts on the inside of changers. I have to disarm that zone to open the changer and disarm my office. An alarm system is cheap insurance. I used to work for ADT. Most people buy an alarm system AFTER an occurance. An alarm system will also lower your insurance rate. Don't be cheap spend the $35/ month!

We have a camara system and an alarm system in our mat but we also have the alarm company call us if any employee enters or leaves the mat after a given time. We want to know the employee leaves on time and gets to the store at the right time

We have cameras and a alarm system. When our contract is up, we are switching to ADP, they have a system that can turn on the alarm automatically. We have protection one, and we have to manually turn it on, but we can turn it on and off remotely(smiles). We are going to install a VCR hidden in the attic, so if someone breaks in, and steals my DVR, they will still be on the VCR tape hidden in the attic. There have been numerus break ins over the years(at our and other locations), and I intend on catching the crooks. If it's local crooks, the cops already know them, and have delt with them numerous times before...

Besides change makers, what has been stolen during any of the break-ins? Seems like a lot of work for a small amount of money if they are going for individual washers.

We've had two break-ins over several years. One was a group of guys who found nothing easy to take and left causing almost no damage. The other seemed to be a former emplyee. While each occurence caused very minor damage, the alarm was the only thing that scared them off.

Security system and cameras are necessary. ADT has called me when my attendants weren't available due to a customer calling about broken glass.

Cameras have saved me from a potential law suit when a customer claimed to get hid in the head from a falling flourescent light bulb.

I have fake bubble cameras in the ceilings with actual cameras hidden throughout the mat to protect from theives.

ADT is one vendor and there is never a reason that you need to use a specific vendor. There are many others that may offer better/cheaper services.

Do you need any of these services -- that is up to you. You can do everything they do yourself if you want. Most camera systems have motion detection capability and you can have them call your cellphone or pager when they detect motion. If you do that, you will likely get information faster than you would with a service. Remember that when your alarm system goes of (if you use an outside vendor) it contacts them, then their is a delay and then they contact you - if you do it yourself you are notified faster.

Perhaps I am too inexperianced in this business. But when we got broken into, they did it during business hours, to avoid the alarm. They only attacked three machines. Maybe I need to ajust my cameras, but, the flicker of the florecent lights, the arcade games, and people and cars moving past my windows register too much motion. Maybe you can let us know what brand of camera system you have, I'm shopping for systems for my new mat, and I'm not buying ANYTHING from my current supplier. If the moderator asks, I'll identify the camera company.AND, they only got $100.00 at most, thats what drugs do to you! If you weren't on drugs, you'ld be robbing banks, or 7-11,especially when you know you're on camera!!!

By the way, the local guy who does my house alarm wanted am arm and a leg to alarm my mat. I use Protection one, but next time it's ADT, if they live up to expectations...

I'm using a Cybervision software-based DVR from KCUSA.COM. When a camera is configured for recording triggered by motion-detection, the user can adjust the sensitivity of the motion detection, and can define a mask that identifies the areas in the camera's frame where motion is detected. I think most DVRs have these features.

I mask out the video games, ceiling fans, front windows, and washer and dryer sight-glass windows. Then I reduce the sensitivity just below where the flicker of the lights triggers it. The result: I record when people are moving around inside my store or using their hands to do work. I do not record when the only motion is outside, or in my laundry machines.
