can you share with us about money collection time
when do you normally take out the money from your store?
if your store is not 24hrs, then do you collect money before opening, or during operation, or after closing?
thx

Collect coins from machines when bill changer is low on quarters.- takes 15 minutes.
Collect bills from changer on Friday and then again on Monday. I want to know what I did Mon - Thurs. and then on the weekend - Fri - Sun - takes 10 minutes to collect and 30 minutes to count and make a bank deposit

the only reason I can see to count the money going in and out of the changer is to detect stringing or some other problem

your income is the money in the washers and dryers so that is what you have to count

I count it as I remove it from the machines, separated by make and model so I can tell how many turns a particular type machine makes. I'll use this information to decide what to buy when expanding or retireing an old worn out machine. For instance the next time a top look like it will cost more than a 150 bucks to fix I'll scrap it for a neptune or a 18# hard mount front

as for collecting, I vary the days and times so that wannabe robbers have no idea when I'll be doing it. sometimes while open with no customers or only long time locals, other times before or after closing

I take the mone out of changer everyday!!!! Here is the reason why, we never had a problem with breakins or vandals. I have the standard changer 920 which is 400plus pounds and it's bolted to the floor with 4 1in and 7in deep so try and snach it out and you will leave the back end of you car behind!! Well some hop head just beat the bill accept to death and exposed the cash. Now you cant get to the coins but the cash was out in the open. I have since put in the steel plates that don't expose the acceptors anymore and that takes care of the problem. Now I empty every day with the help of my HK 40Cal!!!!

I taught my dog to bark on comand. She would also go after anyone who gave me trouble.

I only needed her one time and she did a great job, She barked on comand the idiot looked at Abby and I clocked the guy.

Called the Cops and they took the moron away.

I too have a gun but it has to be worth the trouble . You pull a gun you just might have to use it.
It's was alway with me and visable
But so is Abby my second in comand.

Abby did here job well ;)

DIRTY HARRY:

HARRY: (End of film, to Scorpio) Ah-ah, I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, "Did he fire six shots or only five?" And to tell you the truth, I've forgotten myself in all this excitement. But being this is a .44 Magnum - the most powerful handgun in the world and will blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself a question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk?!

You are probably right Pete F.

Do you guys seriously bring a gun with you when collecting the week's coins? A gun?

Why not when removing thousands of dollars from machines you back up..

In my home, my business, anywhere... would be scared of it.

I'm not necessarily opposed to the idea, but don't have any experience with guns. I guess it makes sense, when I see the local armored-truck guy collect money from various area businesses, he always carries a gun... same with the ATM guy...

Never thought about it. Neccessary though?

Probably not necessary until/unless someone puts a gun in your face while robbing you. If someone ever robbed me, I'd give them the money no questions asked. The part that worries me is after they take the money, do they just go away or do they start beating you. That's the time I will be thankful I carry.

Yeah, I see where you're coming from... I would probably try to do coin collections with doors locked, after hours. I guess I would want a gun if I were in the situation where I am battling someone else with a similar weapon...

Just not sure of my likelihood of success in that situation ;)

Instead of bringing a gun to the mat, is it a viable alternative to go after hours, locking the doors after making sure you are alone, collecting then?

By the way, don't you need a special license to carry a gun? Or do you keep it there?? If it stays at the mat, perhaps that's a dangerous thing all on its own... and if it's there, how likely is it that you can get to it before you're robbed or otherwise need it?

You need a license to carry it. You can keep it at the mat without a license, but as you mention that presents many more potential problems. In my mind, collecting after hours doesn't prevent the main time for potential trouble. I feel relatively safe while I'm collecting in the store. The time for concern IMO is walking from the door of the mat to my car. That 3-4 seconds is the time when I would think someone would jump me. No cameras outside, easier get away, etc.

That is the time to worry. Not sure how to safeguard this, make it safer... I do NOT want to get jumped.

gun licensing/permits depends on the location

I can understand the argument that you're afraid to be jumped/robbed, but even considering the circumstance I can't seem to justify carrying a gun to the mat to collect the money.

To each his own. Like I said, it's not fear of robbery....it's fear of said robber maiming me for absolutely no reason.

The best that i have heard is from someone that built his MAT. He had a garage do installed. He would pull his car in and close the door. He has rear loading machines so he would empty them out get back in his car and leave. No one would ever see him. Yes a waste of space but when it came to his safety it was well worth it.

I have a backdoor and an alley lol ... I think I'll be sticking with the front though. I agree, there needs to be a way to increase safety... just something about bringing a gun makes it sound LESS safe.

Too many potential accidents, liabilities, worries, concerns...

What about collecting coins in locked up mat, counting in office/backroom, putting in disguised bag, backpack, etc ? What about a laundry basket full of clothes? That might work, sounds at least a little safer than carrying out a bank bag.

I hardly ever take coins out of the store. I count them and put them back in the change machines. The only thing that leaves is the paper from the change machines.

come guys, you get the Cherokee alll worked up. Look at statisticks for hold up and violent crime against mats. I think it is very small. This is not a secure area, so I will not say how or how not to avoid the problems, but it is done a daily basis all over the country.
I do not pack a gun or plan to do so any time soon. Those that do, like guns. I have no problem with that either, we need them.

We empty our machines and fill the changers about 3 times a week and always in the morning before we open. We take the bills from the changer and do a bank deposit everyday

Now this guy knows what to do.

What's the big deal Neal tell these people how hard you had to think to come out with this plan.

No stone left unturned ;)
