I am planning to add more washers and dryers.
For washers, just add more in existing line
But needs to make new Dryers(stack) on wall, my question is Do I need to consult and hire the machine distributor for lay-out, pluming, installation?
some people said that just do it yourself, just purchase machines from laundry equipment distributor and hire each person for each part...
what would be the good way to accomplish this?
thank you,

Some distributors will not warranty installation-related issues if they did not install it.

how confident are you in doing it yourself?
how skilled are you in plumbing, electrical, gas?
personally I like to have someone else do the gas or double check my work. but I'm comfortable with the rest.

If you lease your space, then the landlord might want you to use a licensed contractor to protect their investment and the other tenants

some municipalities might require building permits and code inspectors too, sometimes that prevents some owners from doing their own

the reason was I was told that some distributor's skill and knowledge and experience are not worth to pay,so some people just buy the machines from them and they will hire carpentor and other GC and install and set-up the machines by themselves....(sorry for distributors, pls don't feel upset about my comment :-) )

You should get a better install price from where you but your machines. They have more to gain by installing them for you at a lower price than anyone else would plus they know how to do it better too and have the parts if you need them

This question come up all the time. I am lucky, I know a good installer. I call him before I make any changes, he tells me what he can do ( most everything) . I buy the equipment, he puts it in and I pay him.

Simple change outs are not bad, replacing single dryers with stacks will requiore more make up air, and likely more exhaust, and power requirements. This is where you decide if you need a permit or not, most city except Dubois will say any change require permit. I lived in a small town once, put up a sign, built an addition, never even knew what a permit was. I once went down to the town office, said I wanted to tear down my old garage and put up a new one. They told me no permit required, never asked for a set of plans or anything!
