My husband and I are having trouble deciding what hours to have our laundromat open (Just bought it and it's closed now for a remodel).

Looking for some advice and opinions from you experienced owners...

BTW, we are in a low crime/vandal area that has a lot of seasonal tourism and also a fire season which brings in tons of forest service people.

mine changes seasonally
currently 7am - 10pm
last summer I was 5:30am - 11pm
sometimes I had the door open later if I was working on WDF

this year I might start "summer" both earlier in the day and sooner in the year to accomodate road construction workers

with these hours I might need to invest in automatic timer locks!

now that I have cameras I would consider 24hours as this is also a low crime small town area

I think I prefer to be closed during the time that the bars are closing - someone always forgets to go before leaving the bar and being open then invites an eventual vomiting or other unpleasant cleaning incident

We think alike...

That's precisely our main concern -- the bars. I'd love to leave it open 24/7 but then there's the 1-3:30am crowd...

What camera system do you have? How far do you have to drive to get there or are you right there?

I have EasyWatchPro camera system but LaundrySpy and Activision were close contenders too

My apartment is in the back of the Laundromat. The door between the change machine and the soap machine opens into my living room!
Convenient when I want to turn on the lights and unlock the door in my PJs then go back to bed, but not so convenient when I'm eating dinner and someone wants to break a $20 or overloads a top and needs a mop.

6am to midnight, put it on time locks.
I like Geovision cards. Decent price easy to use.
Why close down for remodel? You must have some machines working.

I am open 6am to 11pm and would not go any later. To many problems after that. I have a system from 123cctv and have been happy wiith it. A 6 camera system I just bought was $625.00 + 329.00 for a new computer. I would never go 24/7

We use to be 6am to 10pm we then extended to 6am to 11pm and our competition started to stay open longer so I went to 6am to 1am, mostly to prove a point, I have time locks he has to come down each night. We have had no proplems so far but have been amazed at how many customers we get from 9pm to 1am. We originally did it as summer hours but so many asked me to keep it we have done just that.

Pete, I wish I could explain the condition this place was in... That's why we got it cheap... Maybe I'll post pics of the old inside and the new inside. Night and day. (Walls were rotten and re-framed. Electrical and plumbing redone. Floors are being redone...

OK, I get the picture. Like my last mat I did. I thought the place was still in operation.
