View Full Version : Question for Pete
It is that time of year again and still looking for an accountant. I found a really good one up in NH but he has never worked with Laundromats before. Last year you said you had a good accountant in Tampa. Is there any way I could get his name and number from you?
Does it really matter if the accountant you use has Laundromat Experience?

Hi Kari
Actually the guy I use, his brother in law had some mats at one time. I met him, he was doing books for a multi millionaire client of a broker I worked for, that was good enough for me. She owned properties, bars, etc. He keeps the tax tab real light, but then again I am spending on equipments and upgrades all the time.
You are welcome to call him, and use me as a referral.

I don't ask he hold my hand or anything like that, so he does not.
And we don't spend time on the phone chatting. But if a question he comes up with answers quick. I let him do his stuff, he lets me do mine.

How are you guys billed by the CPAs? Is it a flat prep fee or a percentage of revenues or a combination?

From the horse's mouth it's a flat rate per hour or per diem.
Never by percentage he is not your partner...
Right out of the CPA's office;)
Thanks Pete I will give him a call tomorrow.

I think mine charge by the hour.
My last accountants' bill looked like he charged me a percentage of my profit..which is why I got a new one years ago.
By the Hour - and as my business ventures get more complicated - the longer it takes him and the more his fee! -but it is well worth the money.
I also bounce ideas off him - he does not have previous laundry experience - but all he needs is small business experience to correctly appropriet expenses and revenues.
