Looking for a recommendation for a new trade legal scale for weighing drop off laundry. City inspector says she won't pass mine next time around. Don't want to pay a lot for a new one, but don't want a piece of junk either. Any recommendation?

We always used the basket scale I think that is a regulation scale, come to think about it..we never had one inspecter in the 9 years I was employed. Is a state by state thing? Whos does the inspections?

Around here the city weights and measures department tests and inspect all scales. They come in and test mine 2 times a year. To operate a scale, it must pass the inspection, and you must have a scale license, which they charge you $25.00 a year.

In NJ, it's the state division of Weights and Measures. They come in once each year and test the dryer timers and the WDF scale. The cost is $15.00 for each "timing device" and $25 for the scale for calendar year 2006.

I use an R&B ( the cart company ) laundry scale
Sometimes I find the basket on it to be a bit too big to get around in my small office - then I put 2 big canvas bags of laundry in it and maybe its not so big after all
