I am working on putting in a waste oil boiler. Does anyone have any experiance with this type of fuel? As far as I can tell I can save 30 to 50% on my gas bill. I am having it set up with 3 zones
#1 for hot water for the washers
#2 for space heating
#3 for large space heaters behind the dryers as a preheat for make up are. I already have a sizable supply of waste oil avaliable to me. If I can raise the make up air by 20 to 40 degrees I think it can really add up. Any thoughts would be helpfull. I am going with a boiler so there is no odor transfer from the oil. The best part is that the oil is free.

When I lived in Maine about 20 years ago the waste oil furnace was new, but being used by many trucking companies, ie, free oil, free heat. I knew of one that blew up, not sure why. I am guessing 20 years later these things have been perfected. If you got the oil, I do not see how you can loose. And you help the enviroment by burning it rather then dumping it in a pit behind your hous, at least I think that is better

A good friend of mine had one he ran at a John Deere dealership. They tend to be somewhat fussy at times till you get the mixture just right but for the most part he said it was alright, just one time he smoked out the building but nothing to major. I would just say it is more work than any other type of heat but the fuel is free. You may also be able to get supply of oil from any local recycling depot, some ask for a small donation but then you can also look to any trucking or farm dealerships they will be happy if you pick it up. Good luck.

I am going to order the furnace Monday. I will let everyone know how it goes.

I just installed a 500,000 BTU outdoor wood furnace to heat our 12,000 sq. ft. warehouse. If I had the space for it I would get one for my coin laundry in a heartbeat!

I will pay for the entire system in one heating season.

If you have the space at your laundry for a unit like this to heat your water, do it.

We are also heating our 600 gallons of process water with the same unit.
