I'm just deciding between stacks or singles. We are going to do one or the other but when reading the board it sounds like stacks have a few more problems. So I am interested in your choice, without space as a factor, just based on the mechanical and customer preference sides. Would you chose stacks or singles?

Single pocket dryers are much easier for the customer to use. I think they are easier to fix also. Problem is, space is valuable, ie, every sq ft should prouduce revenue or inhance revenue, so dryers free up space to do other things with. If you got the room, and the space can not be used for something else, single pocket dryers. Still, I think everyone can come up with something else to put in that space. Vending, games, even coffee, interent, tanning etc..

Space is always a consideration, even if you have unlimited!

Yes , I agree but the idea here was what would you use if space were not the main consideration as it tends to be for stacks. ie more dyers less space, but from a repair and customer service side is it the first choice when you look at it from that point of view. I only have singles now and room is not an issue in my location, I have all I would need now and in the future, so do you put in stacks or singles. I guess what I was getting at was if you had two laundrys and they both had the same ## of washers and they both had the same number of pockets but one used stacks and one used single pockets where would people wash thier clothes. Would it sway people, I believe it would and was wondering if anyone else thought so. I do hear the odd concern with stacks but the only concern you seem to hear about singles is space.

At first, I would choose singles over stacks any day of the week(much easier to work on). Secondly, from customer's point of view, if one store had stacks and others were single dryers, it doesn't matter. what matters is that, the dryers are available and the place is clean, etc..

I think all new laundromats need some stack dryers for the ADA and you need a ramp to the store too. One of my stores has all singles and the guy who built it says if we ever remodel get some stacks to comply to the ADA

I'm looking at remodling an old store that has original equipment (20yrs), currently closed. The place is over 4500 square feet. I might actualy put in some singles because I have a ton of wall space. Re-thinking my statement above.

After much consideration we ordered more singles, 4 more Dexter 30's and one 55lb unit. Thanks to all, as a side note our customers perfered singles when asked.

Whats the difference in price between the 30# single and the 30# stack from Dexter?

Price are in cdn dollars but it was $5500 delivered for a stack and $2900 for the single the 55lb was $3350. all prices are for SS and then I added the electronic multi coin drop that accepts quaters, dollar coins. That cost an extra $175 per machine but was thinking we are not going to be able to go much lower in minutes for a quater so might as well get it in the new dryers. We have it in all our newer washers so customers can choose to use all quaters or a mix of quaters and dollars. Right now we are 6 minutes per quater and we plan to give 25 minutes for a dollar.
