Can you folks please give me some information on Primus Washers...The store was built new in 1994. I do not know what model these units are..but would like any information as it relates to reliability, known problems...ease of repair and availability of parts...you guys and gals ROCK!
Thanks,

I get rid of all my Primus,SQ/Primus,Dexter/Primus 8,9 years ago.
They are not bad machines,a lot ss steel, very good looking, customers love them!
problems:parts are not always avaliable or very expensive, too many parts in the control system,a little overkill ,no factory tech support.
Primus make large washer for Maytage now,I have not seen anyone selling new Primus for a while.
I had older Primus, others may have better luck with new one.

My 18# Primus machines are old and are virtualy identical to the SQ Supermates, so many parts are interchangeable. I've always found parts but as Ken said they are not going to be any distributors main focus. I'd say they are OK machines. Have had to do several bearing jobs on drum and motor and replace coin boards (approx $200)
New Primus maybe ok since Maytage is supporting them.
Primus made SQ Supermate,it is almost the same machine, they also made 35 # for Dexter before.
Primus dryer is made by ADC,they didn't make their own.
Any machine has no support, expensive parts are not good machine in the long run.I sold all my old Primus for that reason.
I got rid of Amentek Big Boy 10 years ago, they were great American made tank, customers love them, almost of them were working when I junked them but factory stop making and support them due to lawsuit since 80s,even after market parts were expensive or not avaliable, only one serviceman willing to fix them in my area.....

Maytag is not supporting them. The only reason why they bought out the US market for Primus is so that they can stop the sale of parts through Primus USA. When they did that they forced everyone with a new Primus made Maytag washer to go to a Maytag distributor for parts at Maytags absurd prices. I used to get the Primus "R" timer which is the same as the current MFR timer for almost $100 dollars less then I can now get it through a Maytag dealer for now.
Now do you think Maytag is going go out of there way to help you with you old Primus washer? This was a greedy business decision by Maytag. They don't care about the people who have Primus washers. They only want to stop you from going around them for parts. Most Maytag distributors won't have a clue as to what you are talking about if you need a part for your "W" washer.
Fact is fact and that's the facts.

I just found out this week these are the "R" series units...not "W"
The current owners says that getting parts is not a problem...I hope not.
