My speedqueen soaptrays are somewhat disgusting, especially since I have 2 with non-working softener fill valves (soon to be fixed).

Has anyone pulled the trays out and run them through the dishwasher at home? I'm wondering:

1 Does this clean them well, and
2.do they withstand the heat?

I could pull them out relatively quickly late one night, run 'em through, get them back in before morning opening...

I had ten discusting ones when I bought my mat.
What I did was take a five gallon pail and put a gallon of Caclium, lime and rust remover and a gallon of water in it and every night I took one out and let is soak till the next night and they cleaned up very nice after soaking. I also had a extra tray so I was not out a machine while doing it. Now after a good cleaning I just spray some CLR in the soap trays along with a stiff brush, helps keep the buildup down.

Has anyone tried one of these units to melt the soap scum out of thier soap trays?

I tried a steam cleaner that my mother-in-law bought on one of those home shopping channels.

Not worth the trouble, unless you want to spend like 10 minutes per square inch of soap tray. In other words, it works but is butt-slow.
