What do you think is the best way to price the big dryers?

Currently I price my 75 lbser at 2.50 for 35 minutes and .25 for 4 additional minutes. While my 35 lbser's are priced .25 for 8 minutes.

The people that use the big dryers love the dryers and they are very loyal to these machines - but I am not getting the turns I feel I should be getting on these machines.

Many people are using my 80 lbs washer then using 2 of my smaller dryers.

I think that the problem is my pricing?

Any suggestions?

You are charging 7.14 cents per minute in the 75# dryer. If you convert that on a pound basis it comes out to the equivalent of 2.86 cents a minute for a 30# dryer or put another way they are getting the equivalent of 8.75 minutes for a quarter versus the 8 minutes you give in the 30# dryer. Thus, your problem is not price -- although there may be a perceived price issue. More likely, people believe that by splitting the load either they save money - or more likely time.

I am not sure why you have an issue, as you are charging more per equivalent minute on the 30# dryer. People really only need the big dryer for big items. I notice the same behavior in my store.

What really shocks me is the way stupid owners price these larger dryers. There is one store I am aware of that charges 50 cents for 10 minutes in both 50# and 75# dryers. Why one earth would an owner choose to price the 75# dryer at the same price as the 50# dryer.

It may be the time, not the price. I got heat at my opening beacuse of this. My biggest dry is 50#, 14 mins for 65 cent, it gets good use, people give it about 2 cycle on averge.
Drop to something like 1.00 for 15 mins. People want to micro mange thier dry time. With .25 for 8 mins dryers next to it, paying double becomes a hard sell, even though we know it is even more.

how about applying the KISS method(i.e 1 quarter 5 minute heat 1 minute cool). My 50's are best used dryers but in equal revenue as my 1 stack dryer(4 minute heat 3 minute cool).
