I agree but we need more information.

Is it water run or chemical

Have the company join the forum and give us a run down.

The company is based in Canada and the market is VERY specialized. You just cannot put a sign in the window and run an ad in the newspaper as most do with coin laundries. You must go out and get the business... offer pick-up and delivery and turn things around in 24 hours or less.

It is NOT self-serve and requires a skilled operator to maximize profits. My guess is that less than 1% of laundromat owners could make it work. I've talked to about 10 who currently have the machine with very mixed results. About half or more are generating enough revenue to pay the bills. The other half is a mixed bag - with either not enough time, money or both. One operator offered to sell his operation over the phone.

Machine is water based with enzyme detergent. Costs roughly $80k with all detergents. Be prepared to spend another $30k in build-out, marketing, etc.

If you just want to go in and collect quarters, this is not for you.

I called the company in Canada. Early on in our conversation I realized it is not just another piece of equipment you add to your mix like a game vending machine.

This equipment is for the restoration business not the self-service laundry business. The more I talked to the company the more I was impress with the company.

Bottom line is if you are in the restoration business (or want to get into the business) you should seriously consider this equipment.

They were at Clean '99. Basically, it is a front loading washer with racks, loaded from the side of the drum, not the end like we are used to. Into the racks go sports equipment, protective body shields and guards, uniform stuff that you couldn't wash in a regular washer without damaging the machine or the equipment. It goes through its cycle tumbling equipment through the washing solution, then rinsing, then a quick spin to remove the moisture.

It might work in a large city with major sports teams, but they probably all have their own equiment maintenance departments anyway... And at $80K for the machine, you better have a rock solid business model and plan...

I closed my drycleaner a few years ago, cost over 100k to build ,sold everything for $3000.It was in good location ,ok business since 1972 but I just didn't want to deal with anymore.I am much happier without drycleaner now, selfservice is the way to go.
