I have heard rumors that the Unimacs are notorious for clogs at the soap and softner boxes. Has anyone experienced these problems? I have two Unimacs and both Softner areas are clogged. Was told to get a new Syphon tube. Wanted to make sure that this is what i really need. Any suggestions?

Is unimac the same as speedqueen? Because I have the same problem. I've taken them apart before and cleaned the piss out of them, and that definitely helps. Most of mine have stayed nice and clean for quite some time after the super-cleaning I gave them.

Another one is totally gunked up; I'm thinking the water supply to it might have an issue.

I'd say no point in ordering a new siphon tube unless it is missing compelely.

Let us know if you come up with any great solution.

Yes they are the same and as long as you keep them cleen and FIRMLY SEATED they should work well. Most of the time they are not seated completely into the box so they don't fuction as they should. The newer washers use hot water to flush down the softner to help prevent it from gooing up inside the tube. As long as the tube is still there you don't need to replace it.

Cleaning involves removing it from the dispenser and making sure the hole is clear. Use some hot water.
